Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
This policy explains what PokeShards (“we”) collects and how we use it. PokeShards is designed to be privacy-light: we collect only what’s needed to run the game. We do not sell your data or run third-party ad tracking.
What we collect
- Wallet public address — only if you choose to connect a wallet. This is a public on-chain identifier; we use it to save your progress and settle on-chain rewards. We never receive your private keys.
- Runner name — the display name you choose (or one auto-assigned). It is shown to other players.
- Game progress — your team, vault, score, item counts, and in-game balance, stored on our server (a Postgres database) and keyed to your wallet address or a random per-browser ID.
- Local device storage — we store small values in your browser (a random Runner ID, your chosen class, settings, one-time tutorial/hint flags) so the game works and remembers you. These stay on your device.
- Gameplay/network data — transient data needed for multiplayer (your in-world position, actions, and presence) is relayed to other nearby players while you play.
- Chat — text chat messages are transmitted to other players in real time to operate the chat feature.
- Voice (opt-in) — if you enable push-to-talk voice, your microphone audio is streamed peer-to-peer (WebRTC) directly to nearby players; we do not record or store your audio. Because the connection is peer-to-peer, your IP address may be visible to the peers you connect with — this is inherent to P2P voice. A relay (TURN) server may be used to connect some networks.
On-chain data is public & permanent
If you connect a wallet and transact, your wallet address and transactions are recorded on the public Solana blockchain. This data is public, permanent, and outside our control — it cannot be edited or deleted by us or by you.
How we use data
- To run the game, match you with other players, and save your progress.
- To settle rewards, purchases, and wagers on-chain when you opt into those features.
- To detect and prevent cheating, abuse, and fraud, and to keep the game working.
Third parties
We rely on service providers to operate the game, including: a hosting/database provider (e.g., Railway), Solana RPC providers (e.g., Helius) to read/write the blockchain, your wallet provider (e.g., Phantom), STUN/TURN servers for voice connectivity, and any integrated collectibles platform. These providers process data per their own privacy policies. We don’t sell your personal information to anyone.
Children
PokeShards is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Wallet, token, wagering, and prize features are for adults (18+) only. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at legal@pokeshards.com and we will delete it.
Data retention & your choices
- We keep your game progress while you play and for a reasonable period afterward. You can clear local data by clearing your browser storage.
- You may request access to or deletion of the off-chain data we hold about you by emailing legal@pokeshards.com. Note that on-chain data cannot be deleted.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect data, but no system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for safeguarding your wallet and keys. See the Disclaimer.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the game means you accept the changes.
